FORCED DEPORTATION: JUDY KINNIN

Liverpool born Judy Kinnin found out when she was a little girl, the man she thought was her father was not related to her. During a heated discussion on the stairs, Judy cried out 'Don't shout Daddy' to which he replied. 'I am not your father'

Judy found out when she was older that her biological father had been forcibly deported by the British Government from Liverpool in 1946. Judy is searching for news of her father and any family that she has back in China. None of the men who were deported ever made contact with the families in Liverpool.

Artist Moira Kenny painted the double portrait, oil on canvas as a special thank you to Judy for sharing her personal story as part of the Liverpool Chinatown Oral History.
